 Good morning, a very busy day ahead but nice weather and plenty of work to keep myself busy. Well I will be on the move in just a few minutes, three places to be and then maybe a little down time.

Timber Frame tuesday; The Direction

Good morning, well first of all you have reached another timber frame tuesday. Things are in the works and a timber frame project is on the horizon and locally. The business is slowly getting to move in the direction that i have always wanted it to go!

The Aniversary

Good morning, had a great weekend with family and friends celebrating my parent's 50th. A special thanks to the family and friends that flew across the country to be at the event. It was more than greatly appreciated.Thank you also the fine people of the Manor Tavern for the great service, and finally to my photography friend Rach, excellent JOB!!! 
  Well a very busy week ahead everything from working with timbers to drywall, so progress is happening. As I write I am organizing what needs to happen so until tommorrow.......

log Jamz: note to self

Good morning, hope that you had a great wednesday. As promised I have another addition of Log Jamz, I know that you have been on the edge of your seat waiting in anticipation.
  Well, you have already noted that I have talked about the weather  and it's affect on your log home, now I am going to bring up sunshine, which this week seems to be eluding everyone for the most part.
  Just like rain and snow the sunshine can have an effect on your log home if not properly protected. so with that in mind make a note to self and keep your log home sealed and or stained for good protection from the rays. Your logs will thank you!!

Keep it moving

  Another rainy day, but work goes on! Finishing up some work on some 6x6 timbers and hopefully be able to put them in place in the not to distant future. While I am waiting for good weather there still will be lots of activity.
huge weekend planned lots of relatives, so a couple of more days of preparation have to be fit in. So it is after 8.00am time to keep it moving, Tommorrow is another Log Jamz so I hope that you will be on the edge of your seat with anticipation!!

Timber Frame Tuesday: Lap joints

 Good morning, it is a rainy timber frame tuesday, but work goes forward. I have been creating lap joints on 6x6 timbers to frame out an area for a playhouse. It is a slow process but it will make the finished product have a cleaner look.
  So as I sit here writing a few words I will map out the rest of the day and hopefully the weather will be good to me.
  For those that do not know what a lap joint is, it is when two pieces of timber have had equal amounts of material removed so that they can overlap and remain as one solid connection between two timbers that gives the appearance of one. Until tommorrow........

As usual

Good morning, well an incredibly busy week is ahead. First on the agenda will be completion of playhouse number two! As this week continues my schedule is slowly but surely filling up and the it is back to being business as usual which is a great thing!

Log Jamz: The path

  It is thursday a beautiful may morning, the kind of day that you want to wake up to each and everyday. These are the kind of days that those who want the log home lifestyle to be like. So with that said the dream of such a lifestyle is out there, and i am going to help those of you to find it within yourselves.
  My job is to help you find that path, one that will make the process of log home construction a little easier to understand and guide you to fullfill your dream in the process.
  As i have stated in other additions of Log Jamz the key falls to one major thing and that is to form a plan. This as with other things in life will help keep the problems at a minimum. Next week in my Log Jamz addition I will provide details that will open you up to all the posibilities.......

Timber Frame Tuesday: Hand Tools

 Good morning, hope that all is well. Again it is timber frame tuesday and the topic is hand tools.
As most anyone that knows me, I am a tool junkie and my belief is that you can never have enough good tools to do the job.
  When it comes down to your timber frame hand tools several things should come to mind. First choose a good quality tool, second if you are going to use these tools frequently they need to be comfortable in your hands. Third they should be properly maintained and cared for. A sharp chisel is very important when working with timber. Finally learn to use them in a proper manor and they should last you a very long time.

The playhouse

Well good morning everyone, hope that all is well on this beautiful friday. It is project completion day and time to finish the detail work on the playhouse and move it to it's final location. So with that said it is time to get moving as I am burning daylight!

Log Jamz: Financing

  Good morning, well we are back to another Log Jamz thursday. It is time to talk financing!
Most often than not the average individual will need to borrow money to build their dream. Most people who have experienced either the purchase or the building of a home know that it can be an involved process.
   Log home costruction loans are also just as involved and to a degree maybe even more so. Most banking facilities do not process very many if any at all loans for log home purchase or construction depending on the area that the log home is to be located.
  For those that might get discouraged by this do not!! It falls back you the buyer or the builder educating the facility about the home. Most loan approvals for such a home are not just based on a credit approval. There are facilities that specialize in loans for such homes and can be found via the internet, trade shows, and even through trade magazines which offers information about the process.
  So with that said it is up to you to be the expert about your new home, or at the very least have someone that can guide you through the process. More to follow down the road!!

Take a look

Tuesday morning, which means that today's topic is timber frames. This is a subject that is very near and dear to my heart. Anyone that has known me any length of time will tell you how much that I have talked about being a timber framer.
  As I slowly intergrate myself into the industry my goals are to become as good as the many fine outfits out there. When i achieve that goal i know that the creativity inside will allow me to be the best that i can be and that all the blood, sweat, and frustration will all be worth it.
   I hope that everyone will follow my journey over time, and that i will do my fellow framers proud!
As I get the rest of the day moving with all my little projects, I ask you to stop and take a look at just how much timber framing has affected the world of construction.

Stay tuned

Good morning, it has been approximately two weeks since I last posted. Been somewhat a loss for words, which for me is unusual. So as I sit here trying to decide what to write, I must remind myself to be Ever Moving Forward!
